So my buddy a south paw and noob hunter is wanting me to find him a rifle. Why is Stevens and Marlin X7 rifles not offered in LH. That is kinda bogus.

Maybe a dumb question but is he sure he's left eye dominant? I'm left handed but right eye dominant so I shoot right handed with everything except a handgun. I can shoot a handgun from either hand.

Practice doesn’t make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.

I am a righty who shoots lefty and let me tell you it is harder than hades to find any store with a large selection of any LH rifles. As far as stevens or X7 it is a low cost rifle and to offer it in LH and RH would have meant more developement costs, having to run two different process, having to have different stocks and bolts. By offering it in RH only they Only have to have one set of parts meaning they get a better bulk deal and can pass on the price to the consumer.
I have always wanted a Left Hand rifle, but have never owned one in 39 years. Have him shoot a right handed rifle, and save the money. If you buy a remmy 700 or savage 10, you can get left handed stocks for right handed bolts.
As a left handed shooter they only thing I avoid is stocks with a RH cheek pad. Go with a smooth ambi stock.

When I started hunting, I had no idea that there was such a thing as a left handed gun. I've shot standard rifles and shotguns for over 35 years and never had a problem with shooting them left handed. I am not even sure I could operate a lefty gun.

my dad was kind enough to buy me a ruger LH mark II. it was either that or a remington, at the time winchester didn't offer a left handed and weatherby was priced outta reach.

every other rifle i've bought since then has been a RH.

I can rip off shots with a right handed gun just as fast and accurate as with a left handed bolt action.

i did buy a left handed wingmaster two years ago, and i do seem to get less powder in my eyes, but before that, I shot right handed pumps and autoloaders no problem

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I've got an XS7 that I shoot lefty, I just taped a pad to get my head centered on the scope. That helped negate the fact that it has a monte carlo style stock for a righty. As much as I would LOVE a lefty savage down the road, this works perfectly fine for now.

im a left and every gun i own is a right hand gun, really everythings the same except the bolt. which takes you longer to eject if you are a lefty shooting a right hand gun

Check out Savage. When I got my .270 from them a few years ago they offered 20+ calibers in LH rifles.

I lost the vision in my right eye at 21 and have been shooting left handed ever since. Using a right handed rifle left handed is nothing compared to learning to shoot a bow left handed!!!! bang

All of my many rifles are right handed and they all feel natural to me!! I have stayed away from using a left handed rifle for fear of liking it and having to replace all of my right'ies!!!

I think about replacing mine sometimes!! I grew up shooting right hand rifles but got a couple in left hand over the last several years. They were awkward at first but I love them now!! Every time I look at my right hand rifles I think how easy it would be to sell them and buy new ones.... To the OP, like already mentioned Savage has a wide selection of left hand rifles, and the prices aren't bad on most of them.

I am also a right-handed person who shoots left handed. Its funny to see everyone on here that says that, but when you go into a store the standard response is "we get very few requests for lefties". I think that because we are all buying righties! I have a left handed Savage in 30-06 I love. Just bought another Savage in RH since it was A LOT more for a lefty.

Don't pay more for a LH rifle. Some places may try to get to you if you special order it. Check out Able Ammo's website, LH and RH are all the same price there.
