i think for the right animal, it makes a neat addition to a trophy room.

I personally don't care for a wall full of deer skulls, however.

I think if the animal is of trophy quality, it needs to be shoulder mounted.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I use dermestid beetles to do mine. The upside of this is it prevents the skull from being boiled which will break down the small bones in the nasal cavity. I'm not saying boiling is really bad but this is my opinion. P.m me if your interested in buying some beetles or you need me to use mine

I think very few animals are worth the expense of a mount. But DIY skull mounts can't be beat. They look cool and are great accents in any room.

You don't need to boil. Just get most of the meat off, and put in a 5g bucket of water for several weeks. Change the water every week. Use wire brush last week then 48hrs in fresh water with 40% peroxide. Dry in sun for few days and mount. No teeth loss, small nasal bones stay intact.

Bettles were fun but they stink and need a lot of maintenance I think. But its worth trying to say you did it. Order beetles for $30 online & store in big tupperware with substrate.

The best thing about a euro mount, other than they are cool, is you can handle the mount. If a friend looks at the skull, you can just hand it to them ,to feel the weight and get a good look.

I have all the cull bucks I shoot skull mounted; I simply cape out the deer and trade the cape on the cull buck for a bleached skull mount.

thats the easiest way I know how lol
