The Big Town Gun show in Mesquite is by far the worst gun show that I have ever been to---twice. I didn't learn the first time.

I'd be curious to know too. I like Big Town. It is not as fancy as say Market Hall, but I have always gotten my best deals and finds at Big Town.

How can a gun show be bad. You go to look/buy/sell/trade guns at various booths and that is probably how this one is gonna be, too...just like all the others

CJ & SF,
He may be refering to the "bad element" that's usually present at Big Town gun shows ...I was there about 3 or 4 years ago and it was an uncomfortable environment, to say the least. I felt like I had wandered into L.A. and "gang territory." I saw several get arrested in the parking lot as well.

If I could go I would be there!!!

JB - Gotcha buddy Now that I can understand. From that standpoint... yeah, its not my favorite either. I watched a kid go from table to table once asking, "You got any 12 gauge slugs?" Guy made me want to

I havn't been to big town in a few years but it was always nice, crowded but nice.I did have a problem one time but i couldn't catch the guy,he came up behind me and tried to lift my wallet but it didn't come out,it took a second for me to realize what he tried to do and i started after him but it was crowded and he blended in with other people.Other than that i havn't had any problems or ever heard of anyone having problems with dealers or anybody else.

I usually go to Big Town everytime I get a chance......
Lots of good deals.....there are some rift raft running around there, but you see that just about everywhere you go now a days......heck, go to a local wal Mart.......

Very true, Kent.

John - I have never had any problems with anyone either. Like I say, I like this show because it is usually where I get some good deals. However, I can understand JB's point.

I have friends that work that show and I have been going to that show for about 10 years now and have never ever seen or heard any of the things that yall are talking about.

I am not saying that what yall have seen is not true but I will say that it would have to be very isolated for me not to have heard of this before now.

I'm going to look at a new rifle, probably a Savage 25-06 unless somebody has something bad to say about them or wants to steer me in another caliber.

BINGO!! Hit the nail on the head.

Tattooed gang types everywhere. I felt particularly uncomfortable going to and from the vehicle as well as inside the show.

The vendors know the clientele and cater to them. There were lots of Lorcin type guns, (chrome 25 autos, Saturday night specials, etc). Just seeing gang types trying out guns everywhere is pretty scary.

Now take that part out and it is just a small show. I prefer to wait until Market Hall comes around.

John - I hunt with two guys that swear by the 25-06. Like KWR said, you will get a lot of opinions on it. I personally don't see how you can go wrong with a Savage. JMO on that. I hope to go first thing tomorrow morning and do some browsing myself.

Maybe some of y'all haven't been to Market Hall in awhile..BUT! I've seen some gang types there many times. Also illegals trying to buy any gun that somebody will sell them, guys that act shifty, people that don't bathe, guys with long hair, tatoos, one leg...etc, etc! Give me a break, it's a gun show for cryin' out loud!! I'm surprised some people ever leave the house for being so scared of stuff...

Here's my opinion on all those type of people, they will be there and nothing we can do about it but we,as people have or could have a permit and a gun in our pants and that puts the word MAYBE in there head and gives them something to think about.
I've been wanting a 25-06 to replace one of my 30-06's so maybe it will be for sale here,it's nothing fancy but it will get the job done.

Randy,
Let me be a little more clear about this...FEAR has nothing to do with it. I can hold my own and there are worse things to fear than any man...however, my survival instincts tell me to avoid bad situations whenever possible. The way people look has nothing to do with "bad element" it's their behavior.
