Is anyone else dreading the upcoming year in corn costs. I use about 10,000lbs a year. Its going to hurt. We saw some prices as high as $7/per 50lb bag.

Not sure where your at but I have cotton gin bales(motes) for $50 for a 600lb bale. They run about 17% on protein which is alot better than corn.

I am considering a feeder with a trough and time drop to help eliminate waisted corn. Have also thought about getting away from corn all to gether maybe look into feeding black-eyed peas or something along that line, they are higher in protein anyway.

Jeez...at the local Co-op here, it's $4.90. Actually...I've had deer walk clear across a corn field to chow down on 4th cutting alfalfa bales. It's got to be good quality stuff, and I'm not sure where you'd get it in Texas. They ignored the average stuff and zeroed in on the last cutting.
