Any of you guys ever put anything down under your feeder to keep the "hole" from forming after heavy use? I even thought about pouring a light slab of concrete under one to see how that worked. or a heavy rubber type of tarp or mat ?? any one have any good ideas that have worked. Please only post something that has worked for you or someone you know. thanks

fill the hole with dirt then put a piece of small loop burber carpet under it, corn hits the carpet and stops all the hoof prints and hog rooting in the soil cause its right there for them.
when the carpet wears down just throw another piece on top

I poured a slab under one of my feeders. The hogs completely tore up the concrete. Man I hate them...
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Hog or Cattle panels staked down. I used three tied together and that limits the hole they were digging.

if you have any paper or sheathing mills in your area, call them and ask what they do with their torn wire screens. They have worked well in hog pens for us.

When it gets real bad to the point of pooling water, I scrape out the mud with a shovel, dump some bags of qwickcrete in the hole while the water is there and spread it out smooth, then scrape the mud back over it. The hogs will root around it and break some of it up eventually, but it holds good enough for a season. In fact after a couple of seasons of adding new concrete, it takes a lot less concrete to fix it now than the first year. We have fairly hard soil. But if you have real loose sandy soil, I am sure they would root right under it in no time.

I'm dealing with that issue right now.
I have sandy type soil and I hauled in pickup bed full of sand and dumped it into the hole and made a hump where the hole was, and then placed a square of cattle panel over the fresh fill.
I staked it down with rebar, and it's been a little over a week and we had some rain so they are now starting to make a hole to one side of the mat.
I was planning on just hauling in dirt so water won't collect and they then turn it into a wallow, but I'm thinking the best option is just to move the feeder.
It will last a season at least and then just keep moving it, or try to kill all the hogs.

I just made a feeder that I can move around inside my feeder pen each season.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

Hogs rooted a hole big enough to take a bath in under 3 of my feeders few years ago. I squared them off and poured concrete with some net wire in it. It's been there for several years and still holding up fine. They have rooted around it and I need to do some minor repairs but this is all I have found that works. The concrete needs to be a couple of inches thick with some wire in it and it will be there a while.

4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood with hole's drilled in the end's of it and use heavy rope or a light chain attached to the feeder leg's with no slack, We did this when we hunted east tx and never had a prob. with the hog's making holes under the feeders

I just move my feeders, but one guy put two 4x8x1/4 steel plates under his feeder, expensive, but it cured the problem.

I would have to agree! Best way is to kill all the hogs, but then that's just not going to happen!
