Hi y'all!
I have a normal day job like most of you but I'm also a freelance outdoor writer, photographer and columnist. Until recently I also worked as an archery technician but had to back off of a few things - too many irons in the fire! Most of my current writing is for the NSSF and the Navarro County Times. I run a hunting website as well but won't disclose the name in accordance with the forum rules; I just like to spread my wings and build relationships with people who share my passion for the outdoors. I primarily bowhunt and love to hunt hogs, WT deer, turkey, ducks dove, elk, and mule deer.
I hunt here in Texas for deer, turkey, hogs, ducks, dove, etc. and will be expanding that range to Oklahoma and Kansas this next year. I hunt in Montana annually as well; my wife's family resides in the Bitterroot Valley, in western Montana.
I'm making my first trip to the dark continent in February. I'm excited about that.
I'll be bowhunting with a good friend of mine, Kelly Garmon of Hawglite, for kudu bull, a warthog and possibly a blue wildebeast.
I also love bowfishing although I've just ventured into that. So far, I harvested one tilapia, I could have had more but it was raining/drizzling and the visibility was zero. I'll be out again on Saturday and will let y'all know how it works out. I have it figured out and am a good shot so I think it'll turn out good on Saturday. The gar should be in or getting into their nests so I'll be chasing them in the next couple of weeks as well.
I love to fish too, although not at the level I hunt. I like to fish for black bass, sand bass, catfish and fresh water Red Drum. Crappie too, but don't get to get after them much.
I live across the street from the 3rd largest lake in the state but don't get to it as much because I'm either writing articles, working, working on my website or in a treestand chasing my prey of choice, hogs!
If there's anything else, just ask, I like to think I am an open book. I look forward to building relationships as often as possible.
Y'all can find me on CamoSpace, Facebook and GoHuntingandFishing.com as well (don't know if they compete with standard forums so I don't know if this part of the post will be stricken or not. If it is, I apologize in advance and will make note of it.
Other than that, I'm sure there are some in here that I'll probably know or that know me... so howdy!
Kindest regards,

Welcome aboard! We're going to want to hear about the African excursion. Kudu and wildebeest will be a challenge with a bow. Several of us have been over... so don't be shy about asking questions.
To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.www.NewHopeEquine.com - Health and Healing through Horses.

Sounds like ya got the life I'd rather have as far as workin' for a livin'. Not quite. I have a very demanding regular job. I do get paid well for writing but it doesn't come close to paying the bills. Very few ever get to ONLY write about the outdoors. God's given me a gift that has opened a lot of doors for me but I still have to have a normal job like everyone else. Worse, when my old job's corporate office came and shut down our facility that was 15 miles from me I had to take a job with another company 75 miles away. Now I drive 3 hours or more each day and still have all my writing to do. I'm much busier than I ever was but yes, I do feel pretty fortunate doing what I do outside of the regular work life.
