i am on a lease in west texas and we have goats on it and everyone has feeder pens around their feeder but my step dad one season didnt put a pen up and their were more and bigger bucks at his feeder but as soon as the goats find it his corn was history.i just dont think deer feel comfortable getting in a pen and eating, cant shoot a arrow through a pen either. just seeing if theres any better way to keep livestock away from your feeder or what you guys have rigged up.

If you could afford to build a one acre pen that would make things just about perfect for the deer, but most folks don't have that kind of money and have to settle for something smaller.
Bigger is better, but in my experience the absolute smallest a good pen should be is 8 panels and even that is a compromise.
Goats are hard on the deer's natural browse too. Hope whoever owns them has a pasture rotation system for them.

i dont really care if the goats eat some i just dont want the goats to figure out what time its going off and eat all the corn before the deer have a chance to get there.

Deer want to know that if and when they jump into a pen that their faces aren't pressed up against a feeder. They need room to get in and wander a little. Bigger is better here.
