I just recently got my chl and I'm looking for a good carry gun. I originally was considering an xd or sig, but after handeling all three I fell in love with the taurus. After talking to some guys at the gun range, I heard that some were having problems with their millenniums.
What have u guys heard
Oh and btw I'm lookin at getting a .45

I have a current production PT145 Millenium Pro (45ACP) Some of the older ones had frame problems As long as you just load 8 rds in the mag (not 10) it does fine. I have 4 mags and all are the same. good SA/DA trigger. For the price, I consider it adequate. Kimbers are better, but also three times the price.

Why load only eight? To make sure the slide stays open after the mags empty?

Don't go cheap on your carry gun. You want something that will work every time. I had an early version of the 9mm version and got rid of it. Also went to a handgun class where we fired 700 rounds in 2 days. I used my Beretta 92, never cleaned it, and never had a single jam, other than the ones the instructor set up to teach us how to clear jams under pressure. A lady in the class was shooting a new Millennium and had constant jams. One of the instructors loaned her a Glock so she could finish the course.
A lot of people love taurus but to me they are just a company that does knock offs of other people's designs. Spend a little more and buy a quality firearm. You won't be disappointed.
One last thing, I have the XD 45 compact and it's great carry gun, heavy but never had a jam and I've put quite a few round through it.

What design did they copy, just curious? I have owned a few Taurus' and currently have a Model 85 for my wife. All the guns I have owned have operated flawlessly with minimum maintenance. If the lady had a brand new gun that was not loosened up, and she was limp wristing the gun it will jam, hell any of them will.

If you like it, buy it. You won't have a problem with it. Like any gun it will need to be broke in.

If the lady had a brand new gun that was not loosened up, and she was limp wristing the gun it will jam, hell any of them will. They copied the Beretta 92 and many of the smith revolvers. Don't know how new the gun was but this girl knew how to shoot so I don't think she was limp wristing. Instructors were very good about correcting your form and handling of the gun. It was the gun. Like I said, it's personal opinion, I don't like taurus with the exception of the Judge. If you want to save a little money for a play gun then buy a Taurus, but for a carry gun, I'm spending a little extra for something I know will always work. After a lot of range time of course. Seriously, no offense to the Taurus lovers, their lifetime warranty despite owner transfers is unlike most manufacturers and they do have a strong following. But for me, why buy a Taurus knock off a Beretta when you can spend little more for the real thing. And as I said, my beretta is 18 years old, has had tons of rounds through it, no mods or repairs, and functions flawlessly.
