shot black cloud and hevimetal. I preferred heavy metal as i killed more ducks. I was shooting an 870. I upgraded to a maxus and with not risk busting my barrel on bc

I think it is waaaaay too expensive. You can do the job with remington or winchester. I bought a box a while back and decided that Im not gonna spend 24 bucks a box just cuz Phil Robertson is on the box. Haven't tried heavy shot, but heard it works well. I've got some winchester 6 shot put back that I plan on trying out this season.

OK here is my 2 cents on Black Cloud. I love it. Knocks the mess out of the ducks. I shoot it every day of the season, and I hunt just about every day of the season. Now if you are hunting some real close in your face ducks, the pattern is tight and it is no good, just use the cheap stuff. But if you are shooting some farther out shots, the stuff is out of site. I have shot cases down my SBE and no trouble with it. I suggest it to all my clients, and the ones that are repeat and bring it after they have shot the cheap stuff love the BC.
After we started shooting BC,( and that was before Phill made it cool) we saw are cripple numbers drastically decrease.
Now maybe its my gun, or choke, or the way I shoot, but I have no problem with BC, and will shoot it again this season.

All I know is I missed several mallards with it...the one I did hit I crippled and couldn't hit it on top of the water. First shot with a Expert (of all things) rolled him caboose over engine. Not a good day...but TDK put me on'em. I ended up trading 2 boxes of BC for 2 boxes of Drylok. Funny thing is I felt like I was getting the deal

Never shot it. Give me 1oz of #3's at 1600fps! The best factory ammo out of my gun is DryLok 3" 1 1/8oz 3's and Kent 3" 1 1/8oz 3's. The best thing you can do is pattern your gun. I don't care if you are shooting Black Clouds, Tungsten, Hevi-shot, lead, etc. If you don't know where your gun is hitting or how it patterns, you are wasting your money.

The best thing you can do is pattern your gun.
Truer words have never been spoken.
Patternd mine in at 30 yards with a cylinder, LM, and a Mod.
Shot BC # 2 abd 3. Xperts #2 and #3, and Remingtons cheap shells.
BC # 2 with a Mod choke at 30 yards had the 30 inch circle full of shot. It was not very good with the cylender or LM, lots of stray shot
Experts and the Remington there where holes in the pattern big enough for a duck to fly through.

bc does do more damage to the bird when it connects that cant be argued. the trick is getting it to connect.
Well the first man comes along that can read Latin is welcome to rob us, far as I'm concerned. I'd like a chance t' shoot at a educated man once in my life.

hmmm, a lot of people who shoot BC also shoot them out of a SBEII and feel the need to qualify it with "I started before duck commander made them cool" Of course then there is the other camp that proudly states they only shoot 2 3/4 Xperts from a 20 year old 870.

Its all about patterning your gun with different chokes and loads.
BC does not work with any ported choke. I have had friends that shot it with 100$ patternmaster ported chokes and never hit a duck.
For my remington 1187, BC patterns well out of my factory modified choke, but not as well out of my Briley's ($60) mod choke.
On the other hand, Winchester Xperts pattern better out of the Briley choke and not as well out of the factory mod choke.
For me I always shoot Xperts with Briley modified unless I know I will have long shots, then I will use BC with factory choke.

Jeff- If Avery Made shotgun shells you would be all over em huh? If Avery made shells, out of a box of 25, 10 would be duds, 10 would be so misshaped they wouldnt fit in the chamber, and the last 5 would have slow burning primers
