We have about 250 acres on hwy 11 between Hughes Springs and Linden. My son and I both passed on a couple nice deer that were right at the 13" minimum. We are fortunant to have a local that keeps a very close eye on the property for us. I'm sure we would have a poaching problem if he were not there.

We also have a 280 acre tract in Marion county that my son shot a nice 9 point.

I have 320 acres I hunt in avinger. I also have a lease south of sonora.I have game cameras out and have seen some nice deer in east texas nicer than I thought would be there.Have some pictures of hogs also.I had two chances to take really nice bucks but couldn't get shots off in time, hopefully thet are still running around.Poachers are a major problem in east texas. One of my box blinds had cigarette butts put out in seat next to it.That can make your skin crawl,I hope we show up at the same blind one day! What do you think about the tex-mex la hacienda?

Netman, sorry. I didn't follow you about the "tex-mex la hacienda" Our land is between 1240 and 1399. Just north of town. It is 120 acres. It hasn't happened to me, but 2 friends that also hunt with me have had the poachers start shooting in the air once they arrive. They live just up the road. Do you have hogs on your land? I have not seen any signs on our place.

Corvette I should have elaborated on la hacienda. It's a new tex-mex in hughes springs that that we have tried 3 times and I won't try a 4th.Anyway yes we have hogs, I haven't shot any yet because they come out way to late at night.I did walk into a bunch of them one morning at dark,
I was using a dim green flash light and did not see them.I do not use that light anymore in east texas.I have seen a lot of bobcat, and my father and I saw cougar last year on our land.I actually got to watch a bobcat pounch on a bullfrog in the pond, that was cool.East Texas hunting would get really good and fun if we didn't have poachers.

Amen on the poachers!!

One place I hunt is just north of Linden on Hwy 59 - New Colony community in the Frazier Creek bottoms. Not as many poachers there, but overloaded with hunters. The land is broken up in too many tracts - some as small as 10 acres - with 2 hunters... Years ago there was nothing better than that creek bottom - now I'd rather hunt skunks with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I also own some land near Thomas Lake - Bryans Mill region. Good hunting, but lawlessness and complete disregard of hunting ethics has just about taken its toll. I've had several talks with the GWs in that area, who agree that there's just not enough of them to go around.

Another thing that hurts Cass County is all the "clear cutting" going on in the woods. Folks that once left areas wooded are now raping them down even to sweetgum and persimmon. Guess times are getting hard; turning most of Cass County into briar thickets.

I have a place over in Upshur county up by Ewell not too far from Cass county and we have a problem with the locals hunting but we also have a problem with the local Sherrifs dept. in that when we call and have them come out they tell us that these "good ole Boys" have been hunting here all of their lives and they are just not gonna stop.We had a 17 point on a camera 4 years ago we must have had 10 pictures at least and in the local paper there he was in the lead of a big buck contest. We contacted the GW and he said he would look into it.They said they killed the deer in southern upshur Co. and he let it go at that. The local sherrif was arrested maybe ten years ago, They had found a body of a 12 year old girl just about 300 yards from our front gate and come to find out the sherrif had raped and murdered her. That area is bad and getting worse.I see two white limos pull into a pature about a mile from my property almost every weekend they get out trade bagage and get back in and drive off.

My apologies kiddo. I can tell from the Private Message you just sent me that your just a punky kid. I'm guessing between 12 and 16 years old. Is that about right?

I'll leave you alone.

Up till about 10 years ago when I was arrested for rape and murder.

Look guy, I ain't here to get into a cyber-brawl with anyone. I've been enjoying this forum since it's inception. I don't post often, but I do read quite a bit. Almost everyone on this forum are good people, with some good advice. However, occasionally people like VinceRomo come on the forum and make silly posts or just try to stir things up between other fellow hunters. No room for that here. Don't like it.

I guess I finally cracked and just had to say something about it.

I'm done.

If I ever saw two white limos pull up and exchange baggage once, I wouldn't talk about it. If it happens a lot I sure wouldn't talk about it. Not only are they obviously criminals, they are dumb arse criminals for meeting at the same place twice, and dumb criminals are much more dangerous than smart criminals...

I am ready for THF to have a $1 membership fee paid only by credit card, yearly.
