most of the time, all my knives are real dull since i had to borrow a stone from someone to sharpen em. Well, i bought a lansky set from a fella on the forum, and now all my knives ar sharp.

since then, (2 days ago) i have cut myself three times...mainly because stuff i use to do with my dull knives will now just cut right into me... Was trimmin my fingernail today with my pocket knife that i had just sharpened...didnt even realize, but had one ofmy thumbs pushin into it, and it just busted the skin right open and i start bleeding.

did the same thing later in the day while cuttin an apple.... anyway, i dont know if i like sharp knives lol!!

I guess that's why (like my Dad) I carry a 3 blade slip joint Rancher. I have 1 sharp blade, 1 real sharp blade, and a fingernal blade.

I got a knife from Big Tony (raspy skinner) and a nice Case w/ gut hook I use for cleanin animals. I try to (EVERY TIME) hit them on a finishing stone after use, it keeps a perfect edge and allows for a more consistent cut...once a knife gets dull THAT is when its hard to resharpen! KEEP THEM SHARP!

ac

I do keep a wet stone handy for fixin problem blades...as I call them! My little Gerber folding pocket knife has seen its better days and hits the wet stone about 2-3 times a month.
