How old is the motor? Is the battery fully charged? Are you using a solar panel?

could be anything; might be the connection, the shaft could need a dose of wd40 or just a bad battery.

My first question is do you have a volt meter if so set it up on DC 20 volts. check the battey for voltage. Since I mess with 12 volt most of the time I cannot tell you what is accecptable for 6 volts but I would say some where around 5 volts without any load. Next while still connected to the battery set the timer off. This will tell you two things if the timer is giving you the correct run time (in seconds)and what the draw down on the battery is. A volt meter is a must when fightinging feeder problems and lord knows I fought my share. You can pick up even a cheeeeeep one at Harbor Freight. If you would like, being in Austin you are welcome to bring it out and we should be able to figure it out in short order, or give me a call.

Here is another thing to consider: remington makes a digital timer that allows you to select your speed (high, med and low). Replacing the motor is very easy and could also be your problem.

Are you sure it is a 6v motor?

diagnosing is hard without seeing the system or using it, most likely you can oil up the shaft with WD40 if that doesnt work, motors are cheap

buy a new remington timer from academy. Set it on high speed and set the timer to go off. The timer will tell you whether or not your battery is charged and it works with 6v or 12v batteries. If it still doesn't spin correctly then replace the motor. If it does spin correctly then probably your timer or photocell is defective. Either way you can always take the timer back to Academy or keep it. Hope this helps get you up and running.

oiling the shaft is always a must.........I bought a timer called "The Timer" from all season feeders and set it to go off for 18sec. but when i hit the test button it only goes off for like 2 or three ....setting in the blind watching the feeder go off it runs for 18sc. so maybe your is that way also.

You say you only get 2 sec of runtime out of 16 sec. Is the unit in place, hooked up full of corn. Can you tell prior to the motor running the two sec. is the motor draging to trying to run or is it starting off ok and stopping, have you taken the spinner plate off? Is it 1/4" shaft or one of the little 1/8" shaft. One thing oiling the shaft may temporly mask the problem but long term you will have to change the motor, and you want to do that on your terms not the feeders. It is hard to believe though that you have a motor going out, have you checked your connections?
