Make your own but your cable will will rub your tree and could damage it. If you don't care about the tree then use a come along, barrell, and a timer. Should cost you $150 or less.

I am willing to give you some pointers if you are going to do it yourself. I use 1/4"x 10" plate on top and all the tubing is 14ga, And the angle of the legs is 22.5 degrees. I am all for trying to save money but use a brake winch and do it right, it should last for many years. If you have any questions Squid I will be happy to answer them.

I live in south houston and i will be putting the feeder in burleson county. I would like to hang it in a tree. Buy one of those 5 gallon bucket feeders at Cabelas or Walmart for around $50. Then buy a pulley and a good strong rope. Hang the pulley on a good limb, run the rope thru, and tie it to the feeder. Simple and effective.

I was thinking that i would purchase the moultrie pro magnum hunter 30 gallon hanging feeder. and I think iam either going to buy a come along or brake winch and hang it from a tree. What do you guys think.

You are not going to like operating a comalong for that application.Given the two options I choose the brake winch. Wrap a chain or wire rope around a limb and get a 3/16 swivel hook pulley, 25' 3/16 wire rope from academy. That way if you decide to upgrade in the future you have some of the components.
