Looking for Rifle Scope for a 300 Win Mag. I DON'T want to spend a ton of money. $150 max. I won't be taking over a 300 yard shot and probably nothing close to that. I have never shot a 300 mag so I don't know what type of ammo grain a 300 shoots. I talked to a guy at Achedmy and he says something that will that the shock. I would like something like a 4x9x44 or 50. Don't laugh I don't know much about scopes but you get my drift. Something I can zoom in on. So if you can suggest one and where to get it, like MidwayUSA would be great. Thanks

Thanks, Jigfish

300 Win Mag has a good bit of recoil. I'd spend the extra $ on a quality scope, but that's just my opinion.

you won't get much scope for $150.

look to spend at least 350 or so. nikon monarch, leupold vx-3, or bushnell elite 4200 would be the starting point.

in the world of optics, you get exactly what you pay for.

If you can get to $200, you can get a Burris FullField II 3-9x40 that will hold up and be a tack driver for you.

I have a couple Nikons and a couple Zeiss's. My next scope will be a Vortex. For the money they cant be beat !! I have one on a 270 and a Red Dot on a AR. Plus they are great people to deal with. Had bad luck with Nikon on a warranty. Look at Vortex, want be sorry.

Save a little until you can get a better scope. Scopes are one of those things that you usually get what you pay for. I'd rather have an expensive scope on a cheap rifle rather than the other way around. That being said, I still own several Swift 3-9x40 scopes that were under $150 each. I have had nothing but good luck with them, but have several friends that owned the same scope that had nothing but problems. One even had to buy a new scope while on a hunting trip due to scope failure (would not hold zero, would not adjust)!

Whichever scope you get make sure it has quite a bit of eye relief. The more, the better. The 300 will recoil a bit, and the more clearance between your eye & the scope, the better.

I have a 300 winmag also. I put a redfield on it from academy and it hasn't lost zero at all. The adjustments are accurate as well. I shot, moved 8 clicks down, shot, moved 8 clicks left, shot, and so on... When I got back to zero, it was right on and all groups were close. Good scope for the price.

I have a Simmons I spent $29.95 on about 30 years ago, hasn't missed yet. You get exactly what you pay for when buying scopes. But the dollar was worth a lot more back them.

The only piece of advise I have is try to do something so you can afford a slightly more expensive scope. Any scope you get for $150 will be junk. Personally, I won't use anything of lesser quality than Leupold or Zeiss and that is what I have on all my guns.

For your relatively basic hunting needs.....I would suggest the following scope: Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm for $399

Burris, Nikon, or Leupold and you will be fine imo.
