I'll be in Austin for an entire week in June for a conference.
Where all should I eat while I'm there?

In Austin, i like Iron Works and Stubb's for BBQ. If you can get out of Austin a couple of times, head north to Taylor or south to Lockhart for some great BBQ. Louie Mueller's in Taylor: http://www.louiemuellerbarbecue.com/ Kruez or Black's in Lockhart: http://www.kreuzmarket.com/index.shtmlhttp://www.blacksbbq.com/

When I hit Austin I try to hit the Hula Hut and Amaya's Taco Village. Both are close to downtown. The Hula Hut is a great dinner spot and Amayas has great lunch. Enjoy your trip. There is plenty of good eats there.

there is an awesome mexican place attatched to the Texaco at 620 and I-35. Called somethin Chapala? Its on the south bound frontage road.
Also check out Flemmings. Good steak house if you have some coin.

Hula Hut is great during the summer,(the view) other than that it is just another gourmet tex-mex place. (IMO)
Good Tex-Mex - have to agree with Juan in a Million, breakfast or lunch. Enchiladas y Mas is also great for lunch.
If you are down town check out- Roaring Fork, Threadgills or Moonshine Patio Bar and Grill. All have great food.
If you have time, County Line BBQ is pretty good as is Rudys and get out to the Oasis for an afternoon/evening.

Try the Salt Lick or County Line for BBQ, Texican in Lakeline Mall or Chuy's for El Paso style Mexican food, Cool River on Parmer Ln for steaks (even has venison), Third Base on W. 6th Street for sports bar, Pappadeaux's on I35 for cajun, and Pappasito's next door on 35 for Tex-Mex, Threadgill's for home cooking (the Chicken Fried Steak is awesome),Its Italian (a small place on Bratton Ln), and especially Z-Tejas Grill (they have it all and it's all great - their Chicken Fried is really good). If you only go to one place on this list, go to Z-Tejas.

A few more to consider if you are in the Round Rock area around feeding time. Pluckers for wings/beer, La Margarita for Tex-Mex. If you go out with "the guys", and want an experience, try Twin Peaks on the northeast corner of I35 and SH45. Imagine a Hooters on steroids, but with good food. The beer is cold (recommend draft by the pitcher) and their chicken fried is really good. Try to resist the temptation to hit the 6th Street district east of Congress Avenue. It's a tourist trap and the lowlifes are taking over the street.

say what u want about threadgills. I had eaten there a long time ago, but went again last night.... felt like taking my CFS and throwin it in the trash. Much better CFS in other places in texas.
Mightyfine burger makes an awesome burger, and so does Dans hamburger.

You may be right, Brandon. It's been a while since I went there. I do know that Z-Tejas has a great CFS, though. For some bizarre reason, it tastes even better after a couple of ritas, too. Dan's is a good burger, also. So is Fran's. They are ex-husband/wife, and the Fran's used to be Dan's.
