I need a little help putting a shot gun back together. A buddy of mine has a Stoeger 12 guage pump. He took the barrel off to break it down and the action cylinder came out of the gun. Long story short I told him that I would look at it and see what I could do. It looks like that I need to take the pump arm completely off and out of the action but I cant figure out how. I think once the pump arm is off I can get the action cylinder back down in its chamber then re attach the pump arm. Is this right? I've honestly not ever taken a shotgun all the way apart. Any wisdom from the tribe would be greatly appreciated.

by action cylinder, do you mean the bolt assembly?

have you tried sliding the forearm back (as in partially pumping the gun) and putting the bolt back in that way?

i'm not entirely familiar with the stoeger pump lineup, but pump shotguns aren't TOO different from each other.

You'll have to depress the shell stops to get the slide bars out, then reset the bolt carrier group on them outside the action, then reach back under/inside and depress the shell stops again to allow the action to enter the receiver... if it's one of the ones with the "tail" or recoil reduction system make sure they are angling down into the stock before pulling back too far on the slide...

Thanks guys...great stuff...So I got the bolt back in...had to take out the trigger package first.....I put the trigger package back in but now the action doesn't seem to go far enough back and the gun wont pull up shells from the magazine....looks like the big hook that fits down in the trigger may need to be forward and down in the trigger or straight up and out of the trigger but I'm not sure which...May have to take it to the smithy after all. Thanks for the info though
