ok well my dad has a large yard in haslet, yet his backyard he has to mowe w/ two different mowers and the other day his push mower broke so he wasn't able to mowe his dogs kennel for a week or two, well then he had a stroke of genius and gave me a call to help him take a few bolts, and nuts off so we could slide down the fence a little bit without destroying it, also so we could get the john deer mower inside and after we got it in and started mowing after the first lap we started the second and as my dad was about to finish the second pass a decent cotton tail rabbit came out and he didn't see it so i ran and told him and the dang ribbit was so confused it ran into the chainlik fence bounced back like 3 feet and then took off under the gate and the dogs were late too see it and i swear the thing was a mutated rabbit or had jack rabbit in it because it was going like 25 mph out of the yard and nder the fence and then my dad had me look to see if it had a companion and it didn't but we found a place it dug a small hole and filled with fur to have its young and we looked and fortunately it was just preparing for babies...i have pics but they're on my dads phone and he can't send them to me unless he wnts to pay .20 a picture to send them....just thought it was a funny yet sad story so what do you guys think?

I tried raising baby cottontails twice and had very little luck. I have ran over two different nests. The first time I only had one and he only lived like two weeks. The second time I had two babies and one died the first week. The other rabbit did real good and I thought he was going to make it, he probably lived about 3 months. I was actually going to turn him loose one day before work so he could live in the yard but when I walked outside with him there was a hawk in my tree, so I decided he probably wouldn't have a chance. I put him back in the house and went to work, when I came home he was dead!!! I guess either way that day was his day to go.

Same with mice & rats. They can't burp or fart either. I had a rat once and gave him some beer after he'd been outside in the summer heat for about an hour. He lapped up lots of beer and about 30 minutes later he just layed out and died.

Well from our 4-H experience I would have to say all rabbits are hard to raise. My wife always orders 2 per kid and we lose several every year.

just because something is a mammal doesnt mean it is just like us.... horses and cows for example... if u leave a horse or cow to eat all the corn (or other feed) they want, they will never "get full" and die.... humans have a sensor or something that tells us when we are full, horses and cows dont....

so why would couldnt some mammals not be able to fart?
