Its a custom turret set up for the bullet your shooting but instead of using moa for adjustments like tactical scope the turret actually has yardage on it. When I got mine in feb they had a thing where you get the standard turret thats on it which is moa but give you a coupon for a free custom turret. So you call leupold and they ask your caliber what exact bullet your shooting the grainage the ballistic coeficient average temperature and average elevation and if your zero is 100 or 200 yards. So I'm shooting 270wsm barnes tsx's and my turret goes from 200-750 yards. So all I have to do it range the target and if its 400 yards I just turn the turret to 400 and its all set up. Mine is within about 2.5 inches at 500 yards but have not had a chance to shoot it past that. All in all I love it i can dial it in a whole lot quicker than trying to figure out moa stuff, just range the target and turn to that yardage. Hope this long post answers your question

Not sure if you were talking to me or the op but I paid $549 from cabelas for mine as opposed to the $529 for the same vx-3 4.5-14-40 with out cds figured I would spend the extra 20 and so far I like it
