I got in on the tail end of the previous " Kansas Pheasant" post so I thought I might toss this out as a new posting to those that are in the know regarding the Kansas bird status.

My buddy and I are opting for a jan 13-17th trip to central /north east Kansas instead of my traditional outing to Pawnee Nebraska in the Southeast corner of Neb. The amount of walk in land in Kansas and mediocre bird numbers the past few years are why. My question is where are the most eastern counties in Kansas that should offer good Pheasant numbers and maybe a few quail as well. I know the quail are spotty. I was told that Marshall and Jewell counties are good bets for Pheasants ??
I would appreciate any suggestions or opinions.
If anyone with local knowledge wants to get out for a day or two I would be happy to return the favor with a Kentucky quail and rabbit hunt on 2000 private acres of prime habitat.

Thanks,
