Just wanted to make everyone more aware that the snakes are out an crawling. I saw a dead bull snake about 5 feet long yesterday on the side of the road. I guess he could have died from windchill factor as the day before it got down in the lower 30's and the wind was blowing in the lower 30's also out here in the west. They are amongst us again.

Saw one myself a couple of weeks ago 'cept this one had rattles. He was coiled up under my ladder to my tripod. It was just breaking light and I was headed out hoping for a morning pig. Scared the bajeezzus out of me. Had a flashlight in one hand and a 22 HP in the other. Well anyway the fence is 50" high. BP...

I think you missed its head No I didn't. He was trying to kiss his arse goodbye when I jacked a shell in the chamber and shot. One handed. With a peep sight. And I didn't have my glasses on. Etc., etc., etc. BP...

Yep, I was going to fire up the grill the other day, and reached for an opened bag of charcoal that had been sitting on my back porch for over a year hidden from view by all the other crap. I figured it was all ruined, but what the heck, I was low on the good stuff and didn't want to go to town. opened the top of the bag and a snake was laying coiled up on top of the charcoal. Wasn't a rattlebug, but could just as well of been.

I caught and showed my kids a babby Copper Head at Denton's South Lake Park on the walking trail this past Thursday. When I pressed on the back of his head with a stick so I could pick him up. His vinom came out on the sidewalk. So yes they are out.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

I tried to get him to stand up on his own but he kept falling over. Had me a peta/greenpeace girlfriend once. While at the ranch one evening, we drove up on some hogs. Pulled a 300 savage out and dusted one. "OH MY GAWD!!! YOU KILLED IT." BP...

Can you give me the exact whereabouts of said "snake" so I can make sure to not venture within 200 miles of the spot?

If you are talking about the snake that I mentioned, I would not be surprised if you are already 200 miles from it. The said snake, although I thought it was a bull snake and not a said snake was about 40 miles east of Ft. Stockton on Highway 67 lying on the south side of the road. I just pulled over and looked at it and assumed it was dead. I did not check for a pulse because as you know, snakes either have one heck of a neck or no neck at all and I did not know where to check. It could have been playing possum, but although I have heard of bull snakes playing possum, I have never heard of a said snake playing possum. Since you think it was a said snake, it may have not had the abilities to play possum.

Went to our lease in Sweetwater last weekend. I had taken down my old feeder to build a new one. I had the feeder motor in camp beside a chair. We were talking about rattlesnakes, when that motor went off. My buddy came flying out of that chair, thinking it was a rattlesnake.

I'm no tree hugger but I just don't see the reason for blasting every snake that stick its head out of a hole. I don't like rattlers either but they help keep the vermin down to a dull roar.
