I have had a lot of buddies who say you have to shoot them in the ear, but I say that is BS. If you use the right load, (Nosler Partition)and place the shot well, the AR-15 in .223 will put them DRT. My next one will be taken with my AR and I will post up on how that goes.
If your not the lead dog, the view never changes.

I prefer a "behind the ear shot" with my 223. Love the caliber and the accuracy.

every round ive ever seen fired at a hog has dropped it. from a 9mm to a 338 lapua. now i wont fire a 9mm at a 250lb hog. but i would a .223, may just be 2 or 3 shots in quick secession.
Performance tuning for late model GM vehicles!!

Hogs have been used many times for testing ammunition performance that was going to be for use on humans. Seems to me that a 223 has taken out a lot of 200# plus men in combat. I'd say you "hog" rifle has been combat tested and proven for over 40 years.

I hope they work good on hogs. I just bought one 2 weeks ago striclty for hogs. Got her sighted in and it's time for a field test, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, Yes, and Yes All of these were shot with 55 grain, either wolf or barnual or PMC, cheap off the shelf ammo, behind the shoulder, thru the shoulder, and the spotted one quartering away thru the ribs into heart, 2 of them dropped in their tracks, other two ran maybe 50 yards. Have a couple of more that i dont have pics of, dont buy into it has to be high dollar ammo crap

I use 55 grain vmax and shoot them behind the ear down a little towards the middle of the neck. I'm told it severs their brain stem if you hit em right so the drop in their tracks usually. heart shots are also good but a hogs heart is in a slightly different location than a WTs.
