Alright, I was thinking about trying to make some deer blinds out of porta pots... What do y'all think? They would be brand new so no chemicals or previous waiste.

Does anybody know where I could buy a new porta pot? And about how much do they go for?

Really, they are only like 6 inches smaller than your standard 4x4 box blind.., as a single man blind that's not to small. IMO

We have one over at the lease in Alabama. Cut 3 windows in it and put a board down over the seat. It was not too bad, really but man they heat up quick in the sun. Call it the "S***house" stand on the board. The only bad thing about it is when you sit in there you feel like you ought to be looking at a magazine......

They are also noisy. The fiberglass resonates noise like crazy. I've hunted in one and hated it.

Problem could be solved with cheap indoor/outdoor carpet.

Dad had a few on a lease when I was younger (construction company lease, they're a resourceful lot).

They're not so bad. Pretty tight quarters for a bowhunt though.

If you can lay hands on one, the handicap unit would make a fine 2 man stand.

I have 4 of them , greatest things ever. Never rot, easy to move, plenty of room. Be happy to make you one for $200.00.

yea I'd like to make one on my own, thank you tho. I was driving back from the lease today and saw several porta jons on the side of the road, and they looked like perfect little blinds. And they would last forever. I need to retrofit 2 of them on a couple of 8 ft tall bases that I have already. Just a thought... I think I'm gonna try it, I think it would be cheaper than building one out of wood. And would be lighter and last longer.

I have never seen a porta potty blind but have seen several convertated 300 gallon water totes - the ones with the metal cage around them. You cannot stand up in them but they are very light and extremely durable. You can find them on craigslist for a pretty good price.

There used to be (maybe still out there somewhere?) a company that made deer stands out of old porta-potties. I never had one, but I remember looking at their web-site. They'd take two or three of 'em, cut the sides out as needed, and "weld" them together to make nice-size stands. I think the insides were covered with spray-on insulation-type acoustic coating. I bet they would get warm, though.

I have seen quite a few porta pottie blinds while i'm at work ( I work on a lot of big leases in the woods.) and also have a buddy that has one. Never heard anything bad about them I would say go for it.

yea, we did the research, and you can buy clean used port-a-jons for $100 here in dallas, then all we would have to do is rip out the tank, then cut windows and paint, then we are going to mount them on 8 ft towers, i will post pics when were done, hope it all ends well

Lmao being an Alabama boy myself we also had one on our lease. THey work fine but creak alot and the door was so loud it woke the dead. Could be a good blind with a little modding.

I thought of doing the same thing. Where did you find the Port-a-johns for sale?

Leave the tanks in them and then when you gotta poopie.....no problem. Plus it would make great cover scent. I would do it if you could get new ones but there ain't no way in heck I'm scrubbing them suckers clean. I have been in construction my whole working life and you can't imagine the nastiness they possess.

There used to be one on the ranch next to us. First time I passed it I ran my four-wheeler into a fence post I was laughing so hard. I'm sure they work fine although it looked a bit cramped for my liking.

I thought of doing the same thing. Where did you find the Port-a-johns for sale?

just find a porta jon in a neighborhood that is being built, and call the number on the front, they will have used ones.
