I keep seeing them pop up in the classifieds for about a grand apiece. Am I stupid and they really are stronger than metal?

AND they look like sh*t and a toy! I'm looking for a cheap AR, but not a plastic one.

Are they just as safe as a metal one?

The Bushy Carbons are actually great rifles. Dont know about some of the others Ive seen out there latelly. OldTown posted a pic of a plastic Hesse that broke off at the rear take down holes. What gets me is the guys trying to sell used ARs at new or more than new prices.....

I have held the Sabre poly lower
and it seemed really stout . The upper/lower fit was really quite good. I still prefer standard lowers but these poly ones are probably plenty strong, look at the most reliable handgun made, the Glock.

If you want a cheap AR buy an Olympic Arms K-16. I bought mine off of gunbroker.com for 689 with free shipping. It will shoot a nickel sized group at 100 with factory hornady 55 grain v-max bullets. These guns also come with a lifetime warranty and they are made is the U.S.A. Just my 2 cents.
Hunt hard, Shoot straight, Kill clean, and Apologize to no one.

I hope you dont have any problems with yours and Im glad you are pleased with it but Olympic has one of the worst reputations out there. In the past two months I have had 2 come through that had to be sent back for warranty problems, both owners are guys from here on the THF. I dont know of any brand AR that isnt made in the US and $689 isnt really a good price for a very entry level AR either. Just to name a couple, the Delton and CMMG bargin bin rifles are of much better quality a cost less. Not trying to down your purchase, and I hope your rifle works flawlessly, just trying to give a little more informative info on Oly Arms.

I had an olympic K3B that I got for my first AR. Put about 6000 rounds through it with only 1 jam that I can remember. Wet or dry it would run. It was also extremely accurate for what it was. The only complaint I had about the rifle was that I had to raise the front sight post a ton in order to zero it. Other than that I feel that Olympic has come a really long way since their bad days. Only reason I sold mine was because I had a guy come up to me and offer $850 (I only paid $670). Needless to say it was gone, and I went out and picked up a brand new stag!!

It just seems like the bolt sliding across the carbon would wear it down. There's also very small ejection ports and no forward assist on the ones I saw.

Which is obviously lower than what they were a year ago. Want a RR 6.8 SPC now!! Heading to the gunshow next weekend to see what's there before ordering.

I have had no problems with mine at all. What other brands of AR can you get a bull barreled flat-top for under 700?

I had a bushmaster carbon and sold it on here for 850. My only complaint was that you could only fire about 30 rounds through it and it got super hot. Also that gun was super loud. As far as durability goes I was pretty skeptical when I purchased it, I cycled probally around 2k rounds through it flawlessly.

Did it have a flash hider on it ?? I remember them stupid post ban ARs without flashiders where freaking loud as hell if you was nest to one on the range...

people are just looking for a cheap way to get something "just as good" when there are not really any shortcuts.

Talk about loud, P21 carbon bushmaster I have has a 7" long barrel, loud and the muzzel blast will catch the brush on fire. Cool!
