If you were going to buy a ranch with the hopes of finding the best duck spot in Texas (other than gulf coast) where would you choose? Actual problem!!

The lubbock area is hard to beat, spent my college years hutning up there and I have still never seen anything that comes close.

Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

I would have to say buy you a place around north west texas because if you can get a big enough place to have a 1-5 acre playa lake and maybe a peanut/winter wheat field your sitting nicely for any type of waterfowling that you would like to do. I would say at least 2 hours north of abilene. Some of the best guides in the nation are located in Rochester texas, webfoot connection kills 7000 geese per year which is better than anywhere else in the country and they are located about an hour and a half north of abilene.
Skin that one pilgrim...I'll get you another one.

I agree, but you are limited on type of ducks, I get tired of hunting the coast after a while, because you see the same birds over and over.
Dont get me wrong I love hunting the coast, just want to see different breeds every once in a while

The Coast is a kick in the nutts for ducks. #1, no mallards ( something bad wrong there) #2 suck mud (nuff said) #3 20 dozen decoys that have to be thrown out/picked up #4 Oyster Reef ( if I can't hunt my dog, F it) #5 cut throat guides #6 Fed's that have nothing better to do than give folks a hard time.

I hunted in OK for the first time this year. I dont know how it around the rest of the state but the birds that I saw where I was were simply unbelievable. I saw a flight one morning of more than 6000k mallards. I love living in Texas but when I win the lottery I may be buying land in OK for duck season!

OK might be a great place but Texas is home to more wintering birds than any other state in the nation. Anywhere from the Red River to the coast you can find any bird your looking for as long as you manage your property the right way.

I dont know where you hunted the coast, but I've seen quite a few Mallards taken this year near Sabine Pass. I've seen teal, grays, mergansers, canvas back, woody, mottled, pintail, and geese galore this year. The mud is only real bad in a canal or drainage ditch that feeds the marsh. The rest of that stuff doesnt really apply when your hunting private land. I love hunting in the marsh.

NORTHEAST TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive been hunting ducks and geese for 60 years and the lakes in NE TX, OK, and ARK are the greatest places to hunt in N America. I wouldne even mess with SE TX. If you want a goose hunt in SE TX i would go with DOUBLERHUNTINGCLUB.COM
