This will be my first hunting year with a bow. I've been to intimidated by them for the longest, but now after shooting a lot, I'm hooked. My question is, I was going over the regulations on TPWD website, and noticed Archery only season starts the first Saturday in October(correct?). Also, did I read the regs right in them stating an extra $7 dollar charge for an archery stamp? No big deal, just wanted to make sure I read it right.

Well, what I mean by that, sir, is... if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile of Adolf Hitler with a clear line of sight, sir... pack your bags, fellas, war's over. Amen.--SPR[image]

Yep you read right , you will also need the archery stamp to bow hunt deer. If you hunt varmmits or hogs you do not need the stamp. Now you can also hunt during gun season also so you will have 3 months of deer season.

Welcome to the addiction!

Just keep up the practicing and you'll be fine when the time comes. Unless, the fever hits ya! LOL

lol I'm going to have to get used to not having a magazine full of .270 bullets at the ready. Now I have a 100 grain broadhead with one shot one kill. Can't think of a better scenario come October. Like GLC said, I can't hunt longer this year.

You will get over the loss of the .270 and become addicted to the arrow. I have several guns but haven't used them other than to collect dust.If you purchase the super combo the stamp is covered, however if not yes the stamp is required to hunt. Welcome to our addition and good luck hunting.

Not necessarily true; the Archery Only Season is always the Saturday closest to September 30th each year.

HUNT DATES KEY
White-tailed Deer:
Archery-only Season: the Saturday closest to September 30 through the Friday before the first Saturday in November.

Well, I can't just let the guns sit. I use an Encore and it is a one shot one kill also.

My new deer lease doesn't allow bowhunting. So, I'll keep up the practicing and will use it on a day hunt possibly. Speaking of practicing I need to get the boy out there and build up those muscles. His is set at 10lbs and 18" drawlength. He wants to stick a hog, but that dw got og et up closer to 50lbs before I'll let him go at it.
