Would there be any interest in a weekly or maybe monthly turkey shoot. There would be an entry fee and depending on number of shooters pay one or two moneys. Any ideas suggestions or interested party's please respond.

It sounds fun, but what I want to know, is that crappie barge still there on Lavon and are they catching anything. I am fixing to run short on hunting here fairly quickly, and I get on Lora's nerves real quick like.

Good deal Jason. Talk to some people you know and see if you can get some positive yes I will be there answers and this thing will unfold and start walking. This is something that was really popular when I was a kid and I used to have a blast going to these things. Now folks I'm talking about this being a regular competiton shoot with rules, entry fees and prize money. There will have to be parking and restroom accomidations I will have to sit up as well as concession stand and some seating and not to mention cleanning up after everyone leaves. This is my farm and home place too. This will not be a once or twice thing and then vanish. I will have to put in some time, money and hard work to make it be enjoyable for all that come as well as a great competition shoot each week or month for the players. There would also be a shootout at the end of the year for the top guns. So, I'm really going to need some very positive feed back on this before I ever dig in my billfold or print a flyer. There is also the possibility of a shooting range evolving out of this if the interest is shown.

No so called barge anymore on Lavon as far as a inside pay a couple bucks and drop your jig in the water over the rail. Now I can hook you up with a old boy that is a dang fine crappie fisherman but he has that title in front of name called "GUIDE" so, he charges money to do it. Now if you like eating those kitty kats we call blues or blue cats I consider my self being one of the top 3 jug fisherman on Lake Lavon and I can fill your freezer before you can get the greese hot.

Man that is a good idea but do you think all of that is necessary? We hold an annual skeet shoot and all we do is have it in one of our pastures. We set up 4 or 5 stages and when everyone is ready we have a couple of wolf run shoots. Doesn't cost a fortune and the winner usually ends up with a hundred bucks and we usually make about the same. I have looked into putting in a gun range on some of our property but the costs and hassles seem to be way more than I want to get into. So I am gonna end up building one just for me and my friends.

Thanks for the info. If I am gonna go with a guide, it's gonna be for Striper/Hybrids. As for the offer on the other, Jug-lines and Trot-lines, never took a hold on me. I do appreciate it, and might, if your running now try and beg you out of some fish, and I would be more than happy to come and get'em and clean'em, so we would be able to have a fish fry or two for our hunters, during our guided Javelina hunts. Thans Again, RWW

Jimmy, You do know there is a top notch range just West of McKinney. They would be hard to compete against.
We have seven 3/4 cock sc90 traps on my Ranch. We can set up nearly anything and have a big time without costing much money.
We can have tons of fun without the worry of trying to make money.
I will not Hyjack your thread ,but we are going to have a Bennefit shoot Aug 20.
If you do get it going I will try to come some. I LOVE to compete. Don
Just FYI I don't have anything to do with the course West of McKinney , I have shot there and it is pretty nice.

Hello Don,
Yes I know which range you referring too and they do have all the buisness in this area and surounding area also. They are a firing range, gun smith , sell guns and accessories etc. I just wanted to have a competition shoot every week or twice a week with eneough folks showing the interest to make it work. I would do 98% of the labor sitting it all up IE: Seating, restrooms, refreshment stand. Not looking to get rich or even make a good living out of it. Just a small profit to help with the bills and folks having a good time. I will be done with my house soon and I dont owe for anything. After I inish the house i'm retiring from IBM and oing fishing for the rest of my life. I'm 44

Jimmy , congratulations on your early retirement, and good luck with the shooting course. You will have a BLAST.
I am 51 and have had way to much fun , and have too many bad habbits ( hunting , fishing , shooting ,ranching, etc. ) too ever be able to retire.
