Anyone have a good recipe for a reduced load 25-06. My neice is shooting one, and she is flinching form the recoil on an ultra lite Tikka. ANy help will be appreciated.

The following is from the Hodgdon powder website. Never used it but the relatively new powder called "Trail Boss" is apparently made for reduced loads.
100 GR. NOS PART IMR Trail Boss Starting load: 13.4gr 1454fps 25,500 PSI max load: 19.2gr 1712fps 30,600 PSI

I've never tried the Trail Boss, but from looking at the data, it seems consistent with Blue Dot reduced loads.
Blue Dot is what I use. In my 25-06, I load 14-16 grains and DO NOT have to adjust the POA between that & full power loads. I also load 10 grains in my 6MM, and .243's, for target plinking. Does not make a lot of noise, is fairly accurate, very little recoil. Great for training

Accurate 5744 works great for reduced loads in a lot of rounds, 25-06 being one they list data for in free publications. They even show reduced loads for things like 300 Remington Ultra Mag at 30-30 velocities.

Maybe I am looking at wrong charts???

Looking at the latest on their website some loads that are listed in a hardcopy from a couple years ago are not listed. I am at work now but will check which manual tomorrow at home and call them about it. I am curious now as why some loadds are no longer listed. I do see loads for reduced loads in things like the short actions 7mm WSM, 300WSM, 30-06 to name a few but the list is shorter than in the hard copy data I have at the house. I have used and loaded a reduced load for my 50BMG that I got from a custom reloader that works quite well 100gr of 5744 behind a 650gr ball bullet. gettign real goo accuracy out of that load. I am lookign online at the loading data at link http://www.accuratepowder.com/data/Acc%20Guide%20v3.3%20version.pdf

A link from LoadData for the 300RUM http://www.loaddata.com/members/listing.cfm?type=1When ther put in the cartridge and powder to search. Only ones listed here for 25-06 are lead bullets, but the 300RUM loads are there.

Thanks, Forgot that I had a Accurate manual (2004) and it does show a bunch of reduced load for the above. Looks like the web site has dropped them. Lawyer must have had some input in the manual content. Got a free hard copy of there load data manual and 3 months free copy of handloader magazine on the way off the site.

I guess I should start doin' some reduced loads for the kiddo. He's not recoil shy, but don't want to screw that up w/ a caliber too big for him. Will have to try a couple loads out and see which rifle/ caliber performs best for him. Was gonna get him a 7mm-08 for Christmas anyways. Might just compare the list and see which is closer to it and go that route instead of all of them.

kawabuggy, what bullets were you using with the blue dot? He's a Hornady guy. So, that's probably what he uses.
