suppressors are legal, you just gotta make sure the one you get is legal. look them up on different sites, but there not really cheap.

you've gotta have a license for one. it's like a machine gun license.

Legal to have... yes... if you pay your $200 to the ATF and get your stamp back from them saying you are approved. (a bit of paperwork required... not difficult at all, but you need to know what you are doing. Any store that is selling the suppressors can help you fill them out) Legal to hunt with.... yes... so long as you are not hunting "Game" animals. (Hogs and other "non-game" animals are fine) Part of what makes a gun so loud is the bullet breaking the speed of sound... the sonic crack or boom. This is why sub sonic rounds are very quiet when you put a suppressor on them. ie... 45 acp or 22. These guns can truly become like what you see in hollywood with a good can. Suppressing a 270 would still make noise, but would sound like dropping a phone book on the ground. Make sure you do your homework... you don't want to have ANY type of sound suppressed rifle (if you bought it... or made it) on you if you don't have your stamp. BIG NO-NO. To make them yourself requires even more paperwork. Here is a pic of the stamp you get.... it's not a license. Trun around time right now is about 5 months.

See my updated post above... no license. No such thing. Just a stamp. Same type stamp you get when you have full auto or short barreled rifles. After you pay your $200 to the ATF and get your stamp back, then you can pick up the can. They range in price from about $500-1500 depending on the quality, maker, and level of suppression they have.

Sorry Killer...I knew I would catch he'll for it. I was trying to show the stamp behind the gun since that is what he was asking about.
