I have a couple of friends that hunt at Ozona and they swear by it. I hunted a year or two close to there at Sonora and I would say it was without a doubt the best hunting lease I have ever been on. Now th owner was a total O kicked us off and went with some organization. Yes we worked at it an made it a nice place for him. The other members had been there for like 6 years when I got on. They also put a gas well every 40 acres I think it was.
It could be uh law I dont no. Yall have uh good un

JD. A buddy of mine has a place out there. I shot a pretty nice Fallow off of it and he has shot a couple of small Axis bucks there in the past few years. They have lots of turkeys and javelina's and are starting to see hogs. The whitetail hunting is very good. You will not be dissapointed after hunting east Texas.

I hunted a few years back in Ozona and on several occasions I had a feed pen full of 8 pointers (they had told me dont shoot an 8 point because there were so many wait for a good one). I ended up shooting a nice 10 point.

Biggest rack on a deer I've ever seen in person was on the side of I-10, just 10 miles west of Ozona...Road Kill. It was being guarded by DPS, chasing away those of us with hack saws in our cars.

Great place to deer hunt! We hunt Northwest of Ozona towards Big Lake. The drought took a number on the deer over the last couple of years, but this year we are off to a great start. Its just a long [censored] drive. We have killed numerous bucks from 120-152". Good luck!!!!

I was on a lease near Big Lake, which is not too far from Ozona. We frequently ended up driving to Ozona for corn, and almost always saw a pile of deer on the drive.

I hunted for 3 seasons on 13,000.00 acres off of 163 about 18 miles north of Ozona. It was some UT owned lease land. First year was back 5 years ago. Deer and turkey everywhere. Then the oil boom came and wells opened up on the land. Also some new hunters joined the lease and moved a mobile home on site and basically lived there for the season. All the bucks vanished (wonder why??) and no more turkeys. We got off last year. Was an awesome lease while it lasted.

I hunted an hour south of Ozona between Pandale and Comstock several years back. There a lot of deer down there and a healthy population of Quail (bob's and blue's) as well as some great dove hunting. We also had pretty good turkey hunting on the lease too. The main thing you are going to deal with down there is lack of water. All in all the hunting wasn't bad, but we had a hell of a time with the the guy that grazed livestock, as he wasn't feeding them and the land was severely overgrazed. We had to build major, MAJOR feeder pins to keep the goats out. That area is bigtime goat country, so make sure you know exactly how many "head" they're running. The idea of building pins wasn't the problem, the lack of soil to drive T post was. That is some of the prettiest land this state has to offer though.

I never heard of any mullies in that area, but I think another 70-100 miles west there are.

Have been thru Ozona quite a bit and there were always deer in town. I'd check out the lease and if you see deer while your there you'll be ok. There are some ranches that are shot out (kinda like the mobile trailer ordeal). Would doubt there are mullies there. We hunted by Big Lake and there are mullies there.
