I live outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas, northeast area, I have 50 acres. 30 acres is all flat pasture with cows on it, the other 20 is wooded cleared out a bit, I was wondering if that twenty is big enough to hunt, but my house is in the front of the woods, There is nothing around me but hay meadows, I know I have deer I have seen signs tracks, scat, etc. probably using woods for cover, but I only use a rifle and there is only if 'm lucky 60-100 yards from fence to fence of other peoples property, legal? I also don't want to shoot towards my house. I am putting out a feeder this month and plan on feeding year round, any suggestions on what else to do and any and all opinions are appreciated. thanks

The feeder is the first and best step, and as far as shooting the deer with your concerns of the house and the other land around you, start bow hunting, these two things will take care of all your concerns.

From the way you describe, the 20 acres is all the brush you have and everything else around you is meadows.

I would not invade that 20 acres of brush because you obviously by the sign have deer holding in that brushy area of your place.

Your house is in front of the brushy area so set the feeder back just a little ways inside the brush line behind your house. If you have a garage or out building this could serve as your blind or even your kitchen window in a best case scenerio.

Have the feeder set up where it would be approx 50 yards from your house if that's possible and no closer, all depending on how far the bush is from your house. A little further is even better.

Once you get the deer coming to that feeder it's just a matter of picking the one you want.

Bow hunting is also an option, but I still wouldn't invade that 20 acre santuary if that's the only brush there is.
You spook those deer out of there and they will not return as long as they are disturbed.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Jimbo has the right idea, we use the bedroom window of our cabin, the deer are so used to it that even with all of the noise at the cabin they still come to the feeder. The cabin sits on a small wheat field, and across the field is the feeder sitting right on the tree line.

Since I use a walker and a cane to get around I think it is a pretty good deal, even have someone field dress and load it for me.
