I heard from my father, who saw on the news, that there is a neighborhood around the Lake Conroe area that is over ran by deer and is voting for a controled deer hunt. Anyone else hear about this? Man would I love to get some of that action. Those big neighborhoods have some of the biggest deer I have ever seen in Texas. i would love to be able to sit up near a Liberals yard and stick an arrow in one of those deer and say thanks for feeding him for me.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I know they are netting deer in our neighbor hood (Walden On Lake Conroe), but i havent heard anything about them letting us shoot'em with our bows. I'd be allover that, we got some damn good deer running around our yards.

There was something about it in the Chronicle a couple of weeks ago...based on the comments I was reading left by subscribers the overwhelming majority are in favor of letting them be hunted (especially in cases where the meat would be donated to an organization like Hunters for the Hungry). But as is too often the case a very small, very vocal group of oppostionists are keeping this from happening. So now the citizens of Walden on Lake Conroe, Montgomery County and TX are footing the bill for trapping efforts. Same thing happened at Elkins Lake in Huntsville a few years back...stupid animal-rights activists are making it worse for everyone. Oughtta be a season on stupidity...

Folks in subdivisions from the Woodlands all the over to Magnolia can't keep any trees or shrubs in their yards for all the deer, and some of them are hefty bucks. All tame as housecats. I have a buddy who regularly sends me pictures from his front yard that will make you drool.
