I've only handled one a friend of mine has. That action was the smoothest lever action I've ever cycled. I have never shot one or heard as to how they hold up, and how good or bad Henry's customer service was.
Some day I'd like to get a .22 mag and maybe a .44 mag. Just thought I'd find out if they're a good buy or not.

I've never had to deal with the Customer Service, but they are accurate rifles.

Well since you've never had to deal with customer service means they don't break down, which is a good thing.

I've never had a problem out of mine, 22lr & my bro has the 22mag and as far as I know he's had the same luck. I just seldom use mine except for playing around with it on the swinging targets.

They are good guns, and the two times we have had to deal with them, they just replaced the gun totally... and they really don't have a customer service department, generally you talk to a decision maker not a phone answerer

I'm still shooting the pee out of the one I bought from Vernon 12 years ago. It has never had a single problem, and is accurate enough for squirrel hunting, which is what mine gets used for primarily.

I have a golden boy 17. It is a fun gun to shoot! I have had it around 3-4 years and have not had any problems.

I shot one and it was amazingly accurate and it worked every time.

How does the brass hold upon them?

Very well if you take care of it, make sure before you store it all fingerprints have been removed and light coat of oil just like any other high luster finish gun.

If I had a complaint it would be one of two things. on the H001 the action is powder coated. Mine has two scratches underneath the lever and there is really nothing I can do about it besides have it repowder coated. However, this also means you don't have to worry about the action rusting as finger prints won't rust out the powder coat.
The second is the plastic barrel band. It doesn't always stay tight so occationally it is necessary to tighten it but nothing major. I also heard a rumor that if you email Henry they will set you up with a nice replacement metal band.
