Well went out to a friends lease this past weekend with the intents of shooting a doe. He is on managed land and had an extra tag. Missed my chance at a bobcat, as I caught the [censored] end of it walking into the woods. That night right at dark I caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye comming right at me. Put the scope on it and let it fly. turned out to be 180lb boar hog. He didn't smell nearly at all. Taking him to get sausage made.

I was sure it was a hog. I don't make "sound shots" or "I think" shots.

My misunderstanding but thats not the way you wrote your post.Leads to believe you shot at something you did not know what it was.

No BS involved. Whether he meant to post it the way he did or not, it leaves it open to interpretation. I caught sight of something, throwed up the gun and let fly, turned out to be a 180 pound hog.

There is a difference between BS and trying to ask a reasonable question about the way a post was made.

Bearcat, congratulations on the pig, sounds like you have some good eating in store.

They have no natural enemies and reproduce like rabbits

Not so, there natural enemy is the mountain lion. A mountain lion will kill a pig over a deer every time and a lot of them. There just more pigs then mountain lions.

I agree that the original post implied that the shot was made without knowing what it was. Makes you wonder.

FYI
Rule 1
ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
The only exception to this occurs when you have a firearm in your hands and you have personally unloaded it for checking. As soon as you put it down, Rule 1 applies again.

Rule 2
NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY
You may not wish to destroy it, but you must be clear in your mind that you are quite ready to if you let that muzzle cover the target. To allow a firearm to point at another human being is a deadly threat, and should always be treated as such.

Rule 3
KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
This we call the Golden Rule because its violation is responsible for about 80 percent of the firearms disasters we read about.

Rule 4
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
You never shoot at anything until you have positively identified it. You never fire at a shadow, or a sound, or a suspected presence. You shoot only when you know absolutely what you are shooting at and what is beyond it.

Congrats on the pig!

It pays to re-read a post to remove all doubt, bearkat2003...just in case, and FWIW.
