Earlier asked the question of bait/food to use for hogs (that works really well) without attracting white tail.

I got some great responses, unfortunately none have worked for us.

HAPPY HUNTING

During the normal season, we always use gut piles. Works like a dream.

I think the best advise was given on you last post. Redesign your traps so that the deer can get out (no top) or sothat the deer can't get in. Deer will pretty much eat anything that hogs will. Hogs are omnivores and in some areas the dee are too. For the most part though dee are herbavores, so you cold try Some kind meat for the hogsif you just refuse to rebuild the traps....

but rebuid your traps!

Try tieing a sow in heat by your stand. A little lipstick, maybe some pretty shoes and if she can give a come hither look, they will show up like construction workers to a strip bar on a rainy day! lizard

One olguy said bad part of using a sow is blowin in her ear to get her going. An no drinking before.
But one that works on reluctant big ones is make several planter box cages,(removeable) with potting soil an seed with wheat up in 2 days.an put 1 in rear as bait the shoots long an stringy are right there an they love grazin wheat.

Throw some carpet with burnt motor oil or creasote inside the trap works wonders or you can wrap it around a t post and it works better than corn or any bait

last time i tried to dress up a sal and blow in her ear, she bit my nipple off, normally, i'd like that but not from her.....

anyway.....
plenty sign of hogs, we use a high fence hog panel and it took one deer to get his horns stuck in the panel now grandpa don't trap em anymore
diesel don't work....it sounds like gut piles is the way to go

thanks

HAPPY HUNTING

Spray some Coyote urine (can be purchased) near the bait.

Diesel is not an attracted. It will keep deer from eating it though. Diesel on carpet or burlap the hogs rub on to get the oil on their skin. Once they find it they will keep coming back.

He's got it right... They'll rub against it to help against ticks and other insects. And will continually come back to it.
