I shot a pig. Its head is behind my shop.

Buzzards are circling. A few have landed. My dog has gotten out to taste it.

Whats the best and fastest way to get the brains, ears, and skin off this skull without screwing it up? It does not sting yet but its been pretty cold the last week.

I have thought about boiling it. I am currently letting it decompose naturally but that will take forever at this rate.

Thanks

Boil it with your fish cooker. Add bleach and borax to the water. Use an air compressor to blow the brains and nasal meat out. It's easy. I just did a deer skull.

With a hog skull you want to skin it first, with a knife etc.... Then boil the skull, use some sal soda/soda ash or borax in the water. After a while of boil, f you have a pressure washer do that and get as much meat off as possible. then put back in boil til all meat is easily removed. Aslo, you MUST remove the upper and lower tusks and clean out the meat in them, also before you put the tusks back in after the bleaching process, fill the tusks with fiber glass resin and hardner or they will crack.

Bleaching the skull, get you some 40% peroxide from Sally beauty supply and pour the bottle in your clean boil pot and then put the skull in and fill enough to cover the head with water and boil for about and hour then take out and set in sun. Thats it. LOL

Well - The head has been on an ant bed for weeks now.

With the cold weather I don't think it has really started to rot....at all.

It doesn't smell like I thought it would.

I reckon its too late to skin the head.?.?

If you skin the head it makes it a whole lot easier to finish the skull after it gets eaten. Just soak the head in a bucket of water for a day or so and skin it the best you can. Then put it back in the pile. Be careful because some of the smaller teeth will fall out when it rots and you'll need those when whitening and finishing
