A guy on our lease as well as myself, each bought 1 of the small 12 volt complete units. We have only had them since last May and have not had any problems with them thus far(knock on wood).
They have ALOT of power, VERY easy to set and it gives you the 3 fan speeds, which really helps with how far you throw the corn.
My opinion, best buy on the market today. Hands down.

thanks for the input. I'm building my own 55gal feeders and want a control unit that will last a while especially since my lease is 5 hours away

Any time.
We used our own barrels too; therefore, I cannot comment on the quality of the feeders other than the timer units.
Good Luck hunting

They are good because you can turn days off or on. After two-three years of having them, I probably wouldnt buy again. I would probably buy spincast again.

I have the small 12V Boss Buck units, and love them. They include the 1/4 varmit cage and solar panel. Used them for this past season, and only had one minor problem. I had the feeder head too close to the feeder, so the pressure was too much and caused some funky things when the feeder went off.
Once I fixed that, I haven't had any other problems. I ran them all season from July until now, and the battery still reads 75-80% full of charge. Varmits haven't been any problem either.
They are easy to program, up to 4 times a day, 3 motor settings, etc.

They are good units but I did have one go bad. Cost more to do the warranty plus shipping than to buy a new one. There is also one out there called "THE TIMER" that works very well.

buy one from spintech.. they are the very best.... they have the plate that has a spring and it slaps shut when its done feeding, no varmints or birds or wind will waste feed.. best dollar ive spent all seasons sell them, they are 90 for the complete unit, add 35 for a solar panel and i think 15-20 for a 12v batt. three speed powerful motor and digital timer feeding up to 8 times a day.

12 volt spin tech gets my vote as well. I had a sunslinger go bad and replaced it with a spin tech and will be replacing my other two timers this off season with spin techs.
