What distance would you consider (yardage) to be skyblasting?

I would say the same, but if the duck are working and decoying and you blow your wad and take a passing shot at 30 yards or maybe even less, I say that's sky blasting too.

couldnt agree with you more Guy. we try not to shoot the ducks unless they are cupped and committed no matter how they're working the deeks. its more fun knowing you did your job with a good decoy spread and calling then just shooting ducks as they fly by.

Okay now let's break it down 0-35 yards coming into the decoys is the maximum, maybe, I hunt with Chris and that is sometimes 80-90yards How far do you continue to shoot at ducks after the first shot as remaining birds are making their escape?

After 1st shot, go for it. I think range depends on your gun and choke, if it is out of range or I don't have a good shot, I wont shoot.

It is only skyblasting if you only hit the sky.

It's only skyblasting if you are the first to shoot!

I'd say it depends on your load and your skill. (Legitmate skill that can be demonstrated repeatedly, not once in a lifetime shots.)
Some of the cheap #4 & #2 that I used in the past it felt like anything past 20 yards was skyblasting. Poor penetration and lots of water swatting.
Good #3 steel, I'd go with 35 yards max. BBs with a tight choke (IM), 40-45ish, but your shooting a rifle inside 20 yards that could give you a donut duck and really isn't worth the extra range.
I haven't shot the tungsten stuff, but from what I've heard from people with the money is it's supposed to perform well overall to 40-45 if you have the skill and have taken the time to find a choke that patterns it well.
Of course, if your rarely hit anything past 20 yards because you don't practice, 21 yards is skyblasting no matter what's in the chamber.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I have a place between a lake and feeding area. Ducks follow a creek between the two at treetop high. We pass shoot them with no decoys (like dove hunting). Would some of you consider that skyblasting? It's an old technique we started using in the '60's.

Pass shooting is a proven way to hunt ducks and has been used for awhile. When would pass shooting become skyblasting? Is skyblasting only skyblasting when someone else can see and hear it like a tree falling in the woods? The pass shooting argument is a good one, the duck hunting version of hunting a blind with a feeder (decoy spread and calls) versus a spot along a well used game trail(pass shooting). Interesting?

I believe anything past 45 yards and taking a shot that you darn well know will be a miss (and we've all taken them).
Why the hell should I have to press 1 for English!!??

It doesn't matter how far they are after the first shot, you fire until empty. How do you think I got the name 3shotrock.

Let me guess, you have an auto? You should get a pump, I bet you would save money on shells.

And your wife buys all that? Your wife must be nicer than mine, my wife says “yeah, only 3 months for duck, but before that it is scouting every weekend, before that it is dove hunting, and before that it is training the dog, and before that it is spring fishing etc..”
