try to spot them from as far away as possible.

If they are on the move tt makes it much easier to spot which way they are headed and cut them off. I like to get in front of them and let them come to me.

If they are just hanging in one spot, get down wind and move slow. THey dont see so well, but can smell and hear pretty good.

Be quiet and pay attention to the wind.

I like to get down in a creek/drain/ dried up slough bed and walk down through hardwood flats. You can just about walk up and sucker punch one out a herd that is feeding, or a sow w/ pigs. If there's a herd w/ a group of pigs, they will sometimes be the ones that give away their position. One of those little runts will squeal and you can play the wind and walk over, get behind a tree and wait for them to line up.

Make sure there is someone that is slower than you. The big sows have new litters and they will put you on the run. been there done that. no t-shirt

You got to play the wind. One whiff and the gig is up. They see better than what people give credit for. They can spot you in a heart beat.
Best play is catch them feeding, rootin around, get the wind in your face and let them work their way to ya.
Also, you would think you could spot a solid black pig easy, but they can blend in pretty good. You can be on top of them before you know it.
