I am looking for an AKC registered male yellow lab pup with a black nose and black around his eyes. This has proven to be harder to find than I expected. If u have one let me know. I am wanting one asap!!!

I have a litter coming up. Go to my Website, tiogaretrievers.com and click on the puppy page. The father of the litter is working on his SH and has been hunted. The mother is a littermate to a dog with his SH soon to be MH and a female that is working on her SH. All have been hunted and are extremely good looking, easy to live with and easy to train. They have all the health clearances.

Brad, I am curious as to why the black nose and black eyes?

For a yellow lab the skin around the eyes should be black and the nose should be black, at least when they are puppies before it fades. This is part of the breed standard.

There are yellow pups who have some of the chocolate lab characteristics of brown skin around the eyes and a brown nose.
Some people call them "Dudleys". From what I have read some people sugest the only true dudleys are pups who lack all pigment on their skin so it is more pink.

Cause it's pretty!!! It's very striking to have dark skin pigmentation on a yellow dog.

OK, thanks I was just wondering. I have a new lab pup that I guess is a "dudley". He does have brown points, his eyes are yellow and his nose is pink. I really like the way he looks. Thanks for sharing.

Tanner is a Dudley! I prefer the choc. traits in a yellow lab! His honey colored eyes are amazing!

Gosh, I can appreciate all of them for what they are! We are blessed to see some wonderful variety in some of our crosses. Our fall 2009 litter produced one light yellow with jet black points, one light yellow with chocolate points, one saddled yellow with chocolate points, one very dark, saddled yellow with black points but hazel eyes and one saddled yellow with pink points (in addition to three chocolate and three black.) Every one of them had their own individual beauty and value.

All that said, for a yellow Lab, having black points IS the breed standard. The basic Labrador Retriever is the all-black dog. All other color combos are simply variations of this.

I have a twin to this one.... she can lick you so fast from there it's scary... have gotten her to mind well, but every so often she still gets licky....

I have the bottom one, Radar. Man he is a great pup and settling in just nicely.

Yeah my wife has her heart set on one with dark features. She is not to keen on the lighter colored noses and eyes. I myself wish I had a lab of every color. As my father in law told me "Every man needs a lab" I guess in my case it would be 1,2, or a couple labs. I already have a black one. They are the greatest companions. I especially like how they try to help me plant flowers with some freshly dug holes.

The top one, Ricochet, is staying here to contribute to our breeding program - man is she put together! Now that I'm getting time to work with her, I can appreciate that she is very birdy and driven!!!! Maniac for the water, too!

LIttle Deuce, with the pink nose, is in Missouri - she'll be hunting ducks, geese and upland game bird. Reports are that she is doing great.

Wing Man, dark yellow, just got to his new home in Ohio. He will be hunting in SD and upstate NY. His family just sent pics of him having a blast in the snow.

Didn't upload Scout, darker yellow with chocolate points. He was picked up by an outfitters group.
