I have shown some people a picture of this axis buck and they were impressed with its length and girth. The buck's left horn is about at 36 inches. The other is right below. They suggested that I look into placing it in some type of recording book for a recognition plaque of some kind. I dont have much knowledge about this subject. They mentioned the "ROE (Record Book of Exotics), SCI (Safari Club International), or TGR. They also said to look for an official measurer is in my area. I figured I would see what yall knew or thought about the whole deal.

I spoke to the taxidermist that has the axis buck. Even though the longest horn measures 36 inches, he didn't seem to think that it would score that high because the main beam on the other side is slightly shorter. Any thoughts?

Do you think it is large enough for placing in some record book? Thanks for any advice you may have.

Here is a dif pic below.

I would say based on the meaurements you are giving and what its other measurements would or could be by looking at the picture you have a gold class axis in ROE or SCI. Nice looking animal. 36" main beams is a dandy.

the scorer should do it for free, entering it to get a certficate or plaque is what you will have to spend money on.

I know the taxidermist in Bryan I use is certified for both.

I think you should be able to look up on SCI and ROE for official scorers near or at least call them.

If you haven't destroyed the cape, you could still get it tanned and do a full mount in a couple years. Having the cape tanned wouldn't be too much, and it will keep for a couple of years if you take care of it. Then it can be rehydrated and a shoulder mount done. Just a thought...

Great Axis!

I went to SCI's website and clicked on the measurer search link, but it wouldnt open into anything. Anyone know of one close to Uvalde, Tx?

I called ROE and left a message.

I would have it shoulder mounted, but that's out of my price range while I am still in college.

FYI...to enter it into SCI you must be a member...Nice buck though either way!
