Do you want good, or cheap? I may be wrong, But I don't think there are both.

Cheap and good means a low price to have a good time taking an animal that the lord has alowed me to have rather it be the runt of the woods or the king of the forest. Not all of us have to kill a trophy to have a good time!!!

i would trade every whitetail in the hill country for the same amount of axis.....much more useful animal.

for the record, the animals were brought to texas in part to preserve the species, not so you can kill one for cheap.

there are more blackbuck in texas than there are in their native india, same for aoudad that are from africa and schimitar horned oryx

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Hell, you'd come out cheaper buying a lot in Bandera county and shoot them all day for free. They got a herd of about 200 in the Flying L ranch subdivision.

You don't really "hunt" axis deer, you harvest them. deer2

Anybody that charges you more to kill an Axis than Beef cattle, is just a plain low down dirty theif!!!!!!!!!!

If they don't like my accusation, meet me at JM's place and tell him to call up Johnny Loco duel

up I have to agree-Axis taste better, provide more meat per animal than our skinny little Hill Country whitetail, have a gorgeous hide and impressive rack. Moreover, they are far more challenging to hunt (at least around here and when free-range). I seldom hunt whitetail any more.
