I shoot 55 gr BTHP and LOVE them. I have three different people hunting with me that have shot 45gr HP and have watched their yotes run off after a good shot. I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for a box of 45gr HP.

I use 55gr winchester ballistic tips. They were great. Just took down a 150lb. boar the other night with them as well. Hope that helps. Big fan of soft tips.

55gr soft points would be a better choice. I use them on hogs all the time as well as whitetails. I have used those JHP's before and they dont penetrate enough, they just fragment like crazy. I have used the Hornady varmint express 55gr and they take down yotes and hogs like no other. Just my 2 cents.

I use 55 gr Sierra Varminters in my .22-250, not the thin walled "blitzking" but the regualar varminters. The off the shelf Remington 55 gr soft points work pretty good too.

Usually the lighter bullets are meant for prairie dogs and such.

Soft point for body shots, but SS109 work well for head shots, as do any FMJ into the cranium... which is where I'd be aiming with 223 vs pork
