Last night Clint (Huntin Dog) took me on my first bobcat hunt. The land we hunted was in Celeste, TX in Hunt County (just north of Greenville). After about 20 minutes of calling, we saw eyes to our left at 100+ yards in the tree line. Several minutes passed by and we saw him again directly in front of us at 120 yards. He circled in to 35 yards to the right of us and creeped out from the woods. I shot him w/ my savage .308 from the standing position using a monopod. Clint did a great job calling this big boy in for me. He weighed in at 25.2 lbs. We both thought his coat looked great and I can't wait to get him back from the taxidermist. Here are the pics and video after the shot.

what load were you using in .308? doesnt look like it caused alot of damage that you would normally see for a bigger caliber.

i'm using Winchester Super-X 150gr factory ammo. it really did a nice job of dropping the cat while keeping it all in one piece.

The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.

Very nice cat. How are you having the taxidermist mount it. I have one that is laying on a log and it looks great.

that is a very good question, i have no clue. i'm thinking a wall mount since i have a dog that would like to chew on it. my girlfriend suggested having it mounted laying on its back playing with a ball of yarn smile

anybody have any suggestion on a mount?

i've had several people say that. i weighed him on my digital home scale. i got the same weight both times but i guess it could have been off a bit.
