I took a day of vacation and hit the water this morning I got out there before daylight and got set up with my usual two drakes and a hen setup GWT and mallard about 30 yards apart. Just as soon as LST hit the mallards started coming up out of the reeds and the first batch I saw, about a half a dozen, latched on to my spread like a pit bull and started circling. I do a lot better job with my teal call so I picked it up and every time they would get the fartherest point away from me, turned away, I would hit the call with a simple two longs and and two shorts. They circled me about 6 times getting closer every time. On the last pass they got right over the top of me and banked and stalled to take a real good look, probably about 30 feet above me. I drew a bead on the head of one of the drakes and pulled the trigger. The BC #4's folded him emediatley. He fell like he had a brick tied to him. Here's his picture with Miley and me. My son was supposed to be with us this morning, they are out for MLK day, but he had the green apple quick step this morning and couldn't go.

if you folded him on the first shot....why arent you holding another one ? My cover was some brush along the bank of the lake. From the position I was shooting it had me blocked off of the rest of them for another shot. I shot some gadwalls this morning as well and they got by me the same way. I'm pretty sure I connected on the first shot becuause the birds were stuggling to stay in the air but they managed to get to far behind me for another shot.
