Went down this weekend, had a total of 7 hunters. Got into rouhgly 20 covey's, some had close to 25-30 birds. We ended up with 60 for a 2 day hunt, but saturday was almost a washout b/c of the cold weather, we didnt see a covey till 2:00.

I had about 20 for the two days, all blues. wish we would of had some dogs, as i left several birds in the brush.

Anyone else having luck down there?

I had a dog with a trainer who was bird dogging for an oil company in Zapata county. They had all bobs, or at least I saw only bobs.

thats good. the ranch guys had been seeing bobs, so we were hoping for a mixed bag, but not only did we not see any, we never heard any. But the hawks were thick, sitting at the feeders and circiling all day.

How big was the ranch? Was it a day lease?
