I'm thinking about maybe getting out in the extremely cold weather with my Knight, but since I haven't seen much this year, I might not waste my time. Anyone going to try?

Well, what I mean by that, sir, is... if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile of Adolf Hitler with a clear line of sight, sir... pack your bags, fellas, war's over. Amen.--SPR[image]

I got this doe during the Missouri muzzleloader season last week with my .54 cal Pedersoli Hawken cap lock. It was my first time hunting with round balls and open sights. I am hooked!

Nice! What load were you using?

I'd like to, but if I take my daughter, I won't tote a gun

90gr Pyrodex RS, .010 patch, .535 Hornady lead ball

I spent quite a bit of time at the range experimenting with different loads, and I found this combination seemed to get me the best groups inside of 100 yds. I took that doe at 85 yds and got a clean exit hole with that load.

Oh yea! Will be my first time with ml. Got a cheap kit, but I shot pretty good groups with 100gr triple 7 and 295gr powerbelt qith open site at 100yds. Probably not the best setup, but its been fun so far so I imagine freezing my _insert slang term for testicles here_ off for a chance to drop a deer wikth my ml will be worth it. But I Think that sitting through freezing rain and not seeing a single deer is worth it. I'm in the field any chance I get.

The Missouri Muzzleloader season ended Dec 29th. I was able to take a nice young doe. Shot her at 60 yards- 50 cal 245gr POWERBELT HP pushed by 100gr 777. Huge entry hole, but no exit. Found the slug just under the opposite shoulder.
Plan to use my muzzleloader next week down there in Texas to take a cow buffalo and a red deer hind. Really looking forward to that trip.

Not to hijack the thread here, but why can't the State give us a real muzzle season statewide even if only for a week or two ??

Speaking of muzzleloader seasons, does anyone know if the late muzzleloader season this year in Walker County permits you to take branch antlered bucks, not just spikes? The way I was reading the outdoor annual it sounds like it does but we all know how confusing that thing can be...

Don't know about your county but for cass county its pretty clear. It says regular season bag limits apply for the muZzle loader season.

I really don't see why so many people find the outdoor annual so confusing, but when in doubt call your local gw or local gw office.
