I'll Play

About four years ago went on a last min solo hunt to a public lake. It was foggy as he!!could not see bast the bow of the boat!.....limp my way to my spot I had marked on GPS (would not have found it any other way!!) set up and sit in the boat and start to drink a cup of coffee...then all of a sudden not ten yards from me some beavers starting fighting...not being able to see a thing I nearly crapped on myself!! I loaded the gun and sat there and just waited... I did not leave the boat until it was light scared the crap out of me!! I still smile about that one everytime I hunt that spot!

"Can you eat that?"

I was hunting on the Border of Oregon and California when a bad front blew in during the afternoon. The next morning it was 5 degrees and we couldn't keep the ice from forming around the spread. We put out 2 dozen full bodies around the floaters on the ice. At LST a pair of mallards come to land in the water(which was not liquid now) and go slipping and slidding across the ice. The hen slid into the full bodies, knocking 4 down like bowling pens.

Pretty gross but...The other day (day after Xmas). My buddy (pikefall04) and I were at our spot extra early and I had to drop a deuce. So I did, way out in the woods far away from the truck. Hunt goes good, we get back to the truck and start loading gear up. Dog is nowhere to be found. Holler at him and he comes hauling [censored] right at me out of the woods covered in something brown. Buddy and I looked at each other like 'oh, no'...

Then back to the water he went for a good 20 dunks...

Went to Texoma one year to hunt Mallards on the other side of a large mud flat. As the dog and I started across it became clear my fat butt was not going to make it. So I hollered at her and with much slogging effort headed back to the truck. About then some guys who apparently weighed a great deal less than me and were positioned way out on the mud point fired at duck coming in. My loyal retriever ran all the way out there and retrieved the duck for them and positioned herself beside their blind. She stayed there and retrieved for them all morning until they had their limit. I couldn't walk on the mud to get her and she did not want to leave the action. I can't blame them for not wanting to leave the blind. When they came in they told me thanks for the dog work. This is only funny now 10 years later.

i had a buddy that always claimed he shot everyduck that was killed even if he was wayyyy out of range so just to make sure he was a little over confident we un crimped three shells and removed the pellets and re crimped them and somehow he still magically "shot" all three of the ducks he used those shells on ......
