I have a 1hp #22 from Cabelas that works great and it's easy to clean. As you can see from the other posters there are many brands and models to choose from.

i bought a #32 on ebay for 40$ shipped.. also got a 1 hp motor on ebay for another 40 $. bought some reducer pulleys and 2 belts from tractor supply for 30$. bolted it to board i had laying around and bam... 1 hp friggin awesome grinder i've been using for 4 years. motor is 1750 rpm... pulley setup reduces it to 72 rpm. everyone i know borrows my grinder from me. ground 2 entire deer minus backstrap in 15 minutes. here's a link to the website i found with instruction on how i built mine. mine looks VERY similar to this. http://www.sausagemania.com/grinder.html

I noticed your post about converting a hand grinder to an electric. A friend gave me a washing machine motor over Christmas to convert my hand grinder but it has a 3 or 4 inch pulley attached. Do you think I could still convert using a 12-inch pulley and bypass the reducer pulleys? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

i really don't know... is there any specs on the motor? RPM? how many Horsepower? The rpms are 1725 but that is all I can find stamped on the motor. I guess I could always replace the pulley with a smaller one and duplicate the one from the website but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do all that. Thanks for the help!
