Anybody having the same problem. The bucks haven't moved since the rain started.I hunt 4 different ranches all across Texas and haven't seen anything decent this year. Any other year I see good bucks every hunt. I wonder if its that new deodorant or maybe that new girlfriend.

I'm seeing nice bucks on cam after dark but nothing in person yet. Most of my friends are having the same problem.

I set my game camera 2 weeks ago and checked it last night.

Had 242 pictures, about half of which had bucks on them.

I kid you not - 1 picture. ONE picture, had a legal buck during the day. Tons of youngsters in daylight hours, and 1 bigger buck clearly chasing a doe at around 5:15 one evening.

Oh well, it looks like most of them will live to see next year.

I only saw 1 shooter buck (rattled him in) but apparently, there was some mis-communication with my hunting partner. I thought he was going to shoot it but he didn't and by the time I figured that out, it was over. No buck for me this year.

We usually see a ton of deer and beau coup bucks. This year I saw less deer in 5 days than I normally see in 1/2 day. Acorns were falling like rain over 2500 acres, the landowner had decided to push up a bunch of Mesquites/Cedars and have big brush pile fires going during opening week right in the middle of the best hunting area, and I think deer numbers were down in general. The Perfect Storm of a sucky year but I did find a neat little flint knife and a sharks tooth. up

Deer sightings are way down this year in the area where I hunt in Houston County. However, I know a few hunters who have taken some very nice bucks as a result of this being our third season under the 13-inch rule.

On one of the places I hunt, my partner and I feel that a lack of hunting pressure on surrounding properties is perhaps one of the reasons why we haven't been seeing as many deer. Last season, we saw lots of deer when these adjacent tracks were being hunted. My partner and I do our best to limit the pressure on this tract so that deer use it as place to hide from all the activity in the area. Not sure if it's a result of the bad economy, but these nearby tracts weren't leased out this year.

I had several deer each night on my camera until about three weeks ago. That included two very nice shooters. Since bow season started I have had two deer on camera in legal shooting time. Both doe. The last three weeks there has been nothing except pictures of me checking the camera to make sure it works. I took it down to scout a better place to put it and after walking the entire 155 acres that I hunt I put the camera back in my bag and brought it home with me last night. My feeder grew corn for a while but now thats its turned off colder im just doing a mold project I guess. No doubt the deer are there, there are tracks everywhere. The problem is they are random. Not following any defined trails like they were a month ago. This is my first year on this property. You can bet im going to get serious about food plots here in a few weeks. Im going to try to hold what I can in the area from late winter all the way through next season. I really like the location (75 miles from the house) and there are some nice deer there so im going to have to work it.

Slow is a bit of an understatement. We have night time activity and even a couple of decent bucks running around at night but daytime activity has been non-existent since the opening week end and then it was minimal. They are hitting the food plots and feeders at night still so I guess that is good but IDK if it's road hunters or smarts that is keeping them nocturnal. Pressure on our place has been minimal. Me and another have hunted a total of 3 week ends between us and the other two the same. Does stink though.

We have definitely seen fewer deer this yeqar than in years past. We have seen a lot of bucks on camera, but most of them are small. We have yet to see a good deer on camera, but in person I have seen the top 2 biggest bucks I have seen for our area. I shot the biggest one and was sorely tempted this past weekend by the second largest buck I have seen on the hoof. We did remove 30 does from the lease during the doe season last year, but in years past, that amounted to digging a hole in sand, they just came across the fence and we were at full residency within a month. This year, I am not sure how many to take seeing that our sightings are way down.

It has sucked bigguns this year at our lease. I can't recall ever hunting and being skunked. I have had countless times where I haven't saw a dam thing, and it's that way lease wide. One guy on our lease has sit all day in his stand 6 different times, and hasn't seen a dam thing about half those times. Definitely no shooter bucks. Drinking has picked up at our lease though, so not all is lost.

Where I was this weekend in Dimmit, the deer counts were about half what they normally are. The bucks we saw where all small anterled so the drought has done a big number on them. Not mayn fawns seen. I saw one out of 20 deer. Up north where we had plenty of rain, still not seeing any mature deer in the daylight.

It really has depended on where you are at for me this year. We have a place south of Abilene that has been just flat pathetic, I mean lucky to see deer at all, which is definitely not the norm!

Then I was hunting in sterling county this last weekend and had deer all over the place. Lots of nice young bucks and a few really good mature ones.

I dont know I hear and have seen some pretty good bucks so far this year in our county. It's not too bad this year.

That's why it is called hunting and not killing. (sorry just had to say it) Been slow out my way, getting skunked is way better than being at work.

when in doubt air it out

It sucks, but it is still fun to anticipate what you might see while hunting. It sucks except for the commaraderrie at night sitting around the cabin. It sucks, except for all of the laughs we had. It sucks, except for the feel of the warm campfire and the smell of beans cooking. It sucks, except for the sound of the crickets as the sun is going down. It sucks except for the ride to the blind with the wind making your eyes tear and making you glad you are alive. It sucks, except for the knowing where your kids are because they are sitting in the blind next to you. It sucks except for the sight of the fawn playing and running all around the field burning up energy I wished I had. It sucks except for the naps I got to take after eating too much and sitting in my favorite chair before going on the afternoon hunt. It sucks, except for going to the meat processor and seeing the luck of some so-called good hunters and seeeing their smiles. Come to think of it the only thing that sucks is the fact that I cannot do this ever day of the year.

I have hunted harder this year then ever before & I have not had one single opportunity @ a good shooter buck. It's pretty bad. PP Co.

this is the worst season for me EVER!!!!!! I dont know how many hunts I went without not seeing a deer. Its starting to get better but no bucks, I am just doe harvesting this year. I attribute it to the late rain because they still arent comin to corn much, still an abundance of acorns. every deer is under a live oak tree

This season for us has been horrible. Not only are our hunters not seeing anything, and therefore not bringing anything in to mount, us ourselves are not seing squat at the feeders. I'm starting to feel like a fool at the deerstand. Apparently I'm the only one out waiting for.... a miracle in the form of a deer. BUT, I have high hopes, like that little ant and the rubber tree plant, and I'll be out in my stand again this afternoon.

Definately the worst season I've had since I began hunting 33 years ago. I wonder if we lost some of our deer numbers to the drought. Heck, I'm even seeing less hogs, and there has never been a shortage of those.

Seen maybe 12 deer all season long, no shooter bucks, and on doe weekend we didn't even see a deer. Yea, it's been a rough year! But I'll still be back at the lease Thursday night to hunt FRI,SAT, and SUN! I'M NO QUITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though my wife thinks I'm RETARDED for going back weekend after weekend and coming home with NADA! SHE JUST DON'T GET IT!
