So am I understanding what Im reading here. A pintails tail may not be in plume. We shot our first one today and I didnt see the feather pin coming out of back. His rear tail feathers made a "V", but a real single "pin" like in pictures wasnt visable.

There will be two feathers that form one pin that are about 5-6 inches long.

This one shows both, he hasn't quite got everything rearranged.

The long tail comes in all during the fall and winter. By the end of the season they will be in and long. Hope You get one then. Any time I get a pintail it has been a great hunt. Shot my first one in 1975. Love em.

Saw a really nice one hunting Saturday. Called it in and it circled right above us. The guys I was hunting with had never been duck hunting and missed. I was calling, having put my gun in the hands of one of our guys. Oh, man, I hated wathing that!

The bird in your pic isn't quite full plume, still has feathers left in it from molting, which is why there is some motteling on various parts of the bird. Either way, if the bird is special to you and you want it on the wall, then go ahead an put it on up there.
